My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Reign and I am a 75 pound, almost 2 year old female Shepherd Mix. I’m a great dog that is looking for a family to call my own. I have been working with a lovely trainer who is also a graduate from Paws in Prison since I was 3 and ½ months old She says I am eager to please, love to work and learn and I’m ready to settle into an environment where I feel loved.  My ideal family will continue my training at home, because I absolutely love to learn. I do well in a crate, and don’t tear up my bed. I am a lover, and full of life! Once you meet me, you won't ever want to leave me..... so what are you waiting for..... let's fall in love!  Paws in Prison saved me from euthanasian aka death row at a very young age.

Unfortunately I haven’t had the easiest life thus far.  I went from living on the streets, to living in prison, to living in a boarding kennel where I am today.  I believe I deserve better than this!! I am ready to take my place in your family, to be a part of something bigger..... I am ready to Reign over your life and heart with love and goofiness.... contact us today! Reign’s next chapter needs to start with you! To apply to adopt Reign and make her your own, please visit pawsinprisontx.org to read our adoption guidelines and fill out an application.

More about this rescue

We are a prison located in Lockhart TX. We rescue dogs from rural area shelters and take them into the prison for training on basic obedience. They are also house trained and crate trained. Training is done by the women inmate handlers. A professional trainer comes to the prison weekly to teach the inmates how to train the dogs. Dogs live at the prison for 2-3 months, in the cells with the inmates, while they are being trained.

All dogs are up to date on their shots, heartworm negative and on preventative, spayed/neutered, microchipped and trained for basic obedience.
