My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lola, the canine crusader! In a city plagued by loneliness, Lola was once an ordinary dog until a mysterious meteor gave her superpowers. Her tail wags at super speed, generating a force field of joy that can dispel any sadness. She can leap over tall fences in a single bound to retrieve any ball or plush toy. One day, her powers led her to a shelter, where she now uses her abilities to uplift everyone's spirits. Lola's superpower is love, and she's ready to share it with a forever family. Adopt Lola and let her supercharge your life with joy!

Lola was surrendered to THS when her owner could no longer care for her. This super sweet gal has quickly become a staff favorite as she is super friendly and playful despite her recent medical issue!! Lola arrived to THS with a medical condition known as a vaginal prolapse. She has since received treatment and is ready to find her furrever family!!

Lola spent a couple days in foster care, and we learned that she is energetic, clean-she does great in her kennel!-and enjoys laying by her person's feet while relaxing in the evening! She may do best in a home without small animals as she does like to chase them! Lola would love an active family, a place to run, and lots of toys to play with!!

Since Lola is a long stay at THS, she is eligible for our Foster to Adopt Program!! Interested adopters have the option of taking her home for a minimum of one night, or a maximum of one week to determine if she is a good fit! Interested in adopting this wonderful pup? Stop by THS to ask about this pretty lady today!

More about this shelter

The Toledo Area Humane Society was founded on February 14, 1884. As one of the oldest humane societies in the United States, our original purpose was to prevent cruelty and provide refuge for both animals and children. To this day, we investigate cruelty to animals and provide homeless, abused and abandoned animals with protection and safety. TAHS is a private, non-profit organization and receives no funding from the United Way, the government, or national humane organizations. Donations from local individuals, corporations and generated by our fundraisers are the sole source of funding. Programs like Forever Friends, for people who include TAHS in their wills, and the Golden Paw League, for people who give gifts of $250 or more, have been established to give people donation options and to recognize their generosity. Volunteers help supplement the staff assisting with tasks both inside and outside of our facility. Volunteers provide enrichment for animals such as walking dogs or socializing cats. The Humane Education and Pet Therapy Visitation programs are dependent on our volunteers. Foster care volunteers provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals too young for adoption and for sick or injured animals. It is our goal to help every animal at-risk for abandonment or cruelty, and to find a home for every adoptable animal. The Humane Society is the only animal welfare group in this community who will give refuge to any animal at-risk for abuse or neglect, regardless of its type, health, age or whether we have space.
