My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Ms. Ruby!

Ruby has not had the best start ...

She came into our care very underweight. We believe that in her previous living environment she struggled getting her food. Despite Ruby getting fed regularly since being in our care, she has shown resource guarding with her food and treats.
Due to this behaviour, we require that Ruby go into a home with no children.
She is showing great improvement though and we are continuing to work on this.

What we can tell you about this zestful girl is she loves to stretch her legs out kick back and enjoy the Zen.

Although Ruby has never experienced a loving, unconditional, and caring home... she is on a mission to fill your home with boundless delight and heart warming moments.

Her cute twitching nose and soft fur are a testament to their irresistible charm.
Ruby has the cutest little bursts of energy where she loves to zoom around in excitement and explore every inch and corner of her surroundings.

You can meet this charming girl @ the Parksville Branch Tuesday - Saturday 12-4

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its locations and operations across the province the BC SPCA provides emergency medical care and sheltering for more than 37,000 animals each year. The society also conducts more than 4,600 cruelty investigations and provides a wide range of advocacy and education programs for domestic, farm and wild animals through its Provincial Office.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
