My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pterodactyl came in from an area with a group of cats that didn't have much contact with people. He came in with a brother and sister who have now been adopted and he's looking for his turn! A staff member felt he would come around with some patience and work and took him home to foster. Pterodactyl has come a long way in his socializing journey but would still do best in a low commotion home, he can still be skittish and shy at times. He can take some time to settle in and may hide and prefer to have his own space while settling. Once he settles he is a very sweet, playful and lively boy! He LOVES food and is very food motivated, this really helped his foster mom with socializing and getting him to become comfortable. He loves to spend time playing, often bouncing around on his cat tree and throwing around his toys. He greets his foster mom by rubbing on her legs and enjoys the head pets and attention that she gives him. He is being fostered with other cats with similar demeanors and loves to spend time with them, they even help bring him out of his shell. It's recommended that his new home has a feline friend for him that he can play with and that will help him build his confidence. He can be quite energetic at times so it is also recommended that any feline friends are easy going and will tolerate his antics. He has not been dog tested but would likely be a bit skittish and nervous with one in the home and would probably prefer no dogs. It is recommended that children are 12+ in the home due to his shy nature. If you are interested in Pterodactyl please contact the front desk so the foster can arrange for a meet and greet. Due to his shy nature he may not show his true personality during a meet and greet, but the foster can share pictures and videos of what he's like once he's comfortable and settled.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an pre-adoption application. If that application is approved, the dog/cat must be spayed/neutered before it leaves our shelter (if not already done). If it is a puppy under 4 months old, we allow it to go home with the adopters under a foster care agreement until it is old enough to be returned for spay/neuter. Kittens are allowed to leave before spay/neuter is done, but they must be done within a certain time frame.
Fees: Dogs/puppies range from $150-300, depending on if they came in already spayed/neutered or if we paid to have that done.
Cats range from $80 - $140, though we often have deals on older cats or cats that have been there a long time.
Kittens are $60 with $25 refunded once it has been spayed/neutered.
All adoptions include at least the first vaccination, deworming, de-fleaing, microchip ID, and 6 weeks of pet insurance.
