My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FIRST STEPS: Please visit https://www.save-a-mutt.org/adoption-application/ to fill out an application - a Petfinder Inquiry is not the adoption process. We don't do meet and greets until applications have been approved. All our dogs are located IN Washington State - we are a local foster based rescue and no transport from another state required. :) Thanks!

Meet Higgins. We can't believe he's still looking for a home!! He's the nicest boy. He and his brother were found as strays in sunny California. They arrived from CA and he is now in his foster home! Higgins is about 10 months old, and 30#. It's hard to say how big they will get, maybe 40# range. DNA says they are Heeler Bully mutts! He is a very sweet and beautiful dog.

Higgins' ideal home is one with a fenced yard and an active life style. We always love another friendly dog in the home. He is so playful with the resident dogs in the foster home. Oh and the couch is his new favorite hang out. He is doing GREAT with his crate training, but will likely need housebreaking reminders in their new home. Higgins is pretty smart. He even took a trip to the local brewery! He was recently at our St. Pawty's Day event and did so good - meeting all kinds of people, Higgins was a rockstar!

He just got cleared orthopedically and is on pet insurance with Embrace. Easy for his adopters to just transfer it to them! He is neutered, microchipped and fully vaccinated. They are also heartworm negative. Many rescue dogs need patience when transitioning to a new home. Our foster homes try to socialize each dog with other dogs, cats, kids and even livestock. We have made recommendations on their best home placement based on our foster home information.

Each dog goes home with a goody bag including collar/leash, toys, chews, Kong, and more. You will receive all medical records, microchip transfer form and other paperwork at the time of adoption. Save-A-Mutt may require a training contract (depending on previous dog experience).

Adoption fee is $325. Save-A-Mutt is a registered 501c3 and half of your adoption fee may be tax deductible.

Save-A-Mutt is a foster based rescue, we do not have a facility to visit. Our adoptions are typically done Monday - Saturday, we are closed on Sunday’s to give our volunteers at least one day off. You must be available to do meets and adoptions during that time frame. We can make exceptions only with the approval of the foster home.

Please note, we have approximately a 300 mile adoption radius - Portland OR area and Vancouver BC is the farthest north. We don’t ship dogs, once approved you must pick them up in Snohomish County, WA. Canadian adopters must be able to come to Stanwood WA to pick up your puppy.
