My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Asher and I am looking for a family to call my own! Looking for a laid back, loving boy with soulful eyes----that's me!! How about a dog that is good with other dogs and cats? That's me too! Life has not been the easiest for me, but I don't let that stop me from being the sweetest boy you will ever meet! I was found found abandoned in the woods and it is suspected I did not have a lot of interaction with humans in my previous life, which is why I can be very timid when I first meet new people or hear new sounds. It is also suspected that I lived the first part of my life outside, so I need someone who can be patient with me as I learn house manners and rules. Unfortunately, the living conditions I was in before coming to the shelter has led to me having heartworms and being underweight. While heartworms may sound scary, it is treatable and IS NOT contagious. I even have a $400 sponsorship through Friends of Wake County Animal Center to help cover the cost of heartworm treatment! Even though I have had a rough start to life, I have so much love to give and a lot to learn about what it means to be loved. I would prefer to go to a home that has other dogs to keep me company when you are away. My foster mom is working on me with being crate trained, walking on a leash, and housetraining. My adoption fee covers me being neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and monthly preventatives. If you have questions about my history or medical needs, please feel free to ask! My foster mom is happy to provide more education and information!
