My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lexie is a beautiful Sarplaninac Shepherd who recently came to our rescue all the way from Macedonia (in Europe).
She was rescued after her owner abandoned her along with her two tiny nursing puppies (for whom loving homes have since been found). Even though Lexie's early life was difficult, she doesn’t hold a grudge and—amazingly—she still loves people and doesn’t have any personality quirks or issues.
Lexie weighs about 70 lbs, is three years old, has been fully vetted, and she is in perfect health. We honestly can’t say enough good things about this sweet dog!
Lexie is incredibly affectionate and she enjoys being petted, but she is not “needy”. Lexie is laid back and gets along well with other dogs.

Lexie would be happy either being an only dog or living with another dog or two. She would enjoy a large safely fenced yard to play in (please, no “invisible fencing".) Since she loves people so much, an adopter who is home much of the time (either working part time, working at home, or retired) would be the best fit for her. Her adoption fee is $325.

If you feel that you would be a good match for Lexie (and vice versa), we encourage you to e-mail her foster “mom” at: sylvialovesme@gmail.com (please, no phone calls)
Once you tell us about yourself and about your other family members, what your daily schedule is like, if you have other pets, if you have a safely fenced yard, and why you are specifically interested in Lexie, we will be able to determine if she is the right dog for you. If so, we will e-mail you an adoption application. Then--once you have filled the application out and returned it to us--we can schedule a meet-and-greet. (NOTE: At this time Lexie is being fostered in Streamwood, Illinois which is a suburb of Chicago.)
