My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** Hello! I'm Graceful Gracie! **

I'm a 4-year-old Shepherd Mix girl and I weigh about 87 lbs.

My favorite things to do are going for walks in the sunshine, playing fetch in the yard with my volunteer buddies and cuddling up for snuggles while soaking up every ounce of their love and attention.

But the BESTEST THINGS EVER are those stuffie toys with squeakers inside! They just make my day! You'll find me carrying a stuffie as I strut about the yard and sometimes on my walks too.

On my way back to my kennel, I stop by the Volunteers' Office to find new toys, which I'll then proceed to hide. My volunteer buddies tell me I look super cute while doing that.

I like to run the yard fence with friendly doggos, but I can be quite selective and may bark if I'm not comfortable with some of them.

I'll 'Sit' when asked to, but most times all you'll need to do is crinkle a treat bag to get me to be a gooooo girl. I'm a foodie at heart, and sometimes, in my excitement to get to treats, I forget my manners and dive right in with all the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store.

With my exuberant nature and penchant for treat-gobbling, I can be a bit overwhelming for the small hooman kiddos. I wouldn't want to accidentally knock them over with my over-enthusiastic antics so it's best that I go to a home without small children.

But hey, there's so much more to me than my love for snacks. You see, I may not be able to speak your language, but I've got plenty to say with my wagging tail, silly lopsided ears, soulful eyes, and adorable head tilts. I've been told I have quite the expressive face.

I'm a quick learner and am always eager to please. With a little patience, consistency, and lots of positive reinforcement, I can be the doggo of your dreams!

I'm already spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated and am ready to get my wiggly butt home! With a stuffie in my mouth, of course!

** Gracie would do best in a home without small children due to food drive **

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Please browse our adoptable animals. We make every effort to keep our listings updated.

Each of our animals has contact information in the description - either referencing the phone number of the foster volunteer who is fostering the animal or East County Animal Shelter contact information if a shelter animal.

If you have questions, please use the contact information in the description directly. We attempt to forward emails sent to contact@tvar.org to the foster though it is not necessarily before the animal is adopted. Also, volunteers who monitor this email do not know the animals whereas the fosters do!

If a dog or puppy is in foster with TVAR, please fill out an adoption application (available here: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TVAR/Dog). We consider each application and pick the best one for the animal in question. In general, we do not do out of area adoptions. Kittens do not need applications completed - just contact the foster!

If an animal is at ECAS, they have their own adoption process. Please go to ECAS (they are open daily 11:30am to 5:30pm except holidays) to meet the animal and learn about ECAS's adoption process.

All TVAR animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, treated for worms and fleas, and microchipped. Felines are FIV/FeLV tested. Many of our pets also come with a "packed bag" that can include a variety of goodies like bedding, food, toys, leashes, and even private training sessions with our professional trainers. Adoption fees vary by species. Our fee range is $120-$350. The foster volunteer can provide specifics for the animals in their care.

Go meet their pets

**Please go to www.tvar.org to check adoption event status before going** Dog adoptions take place at the Pleasanton Farmers Market, at the park on the corner of First and Angela streets, every Saturday morning from 10am to 1pm. All of our adoptable dogs (and selected ECAS dogs) are available on our website and on adopt-a-pet.com.

Kittens adoptions take place every Saturday and Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm at the Dublin PetSmart, pending availability. During kitten season (March to December), we have way more kittens than we could ever hope to post online, so come visit us at PetSmart to see our selection.

All of our adoptable animals can also be met/adopted by appointment made directly with the foster volunteers.

More about this rescue

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) was founded in 1992 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the East Bay (San Francisco Bay Area). We primarily place shelter animals in foster care of TVAR volunteers while trying to find them permanent homes. Although we do not have a facility of our own, we help over 1000 animals find forever homes yearly through the hard work and dedication of our East County Animal Shelter shelter volunteers who socialize shelter animals daily and assist the public in selecting a pet to adopt.

We have a variety of volunteer programs including a shelter program and four foster programs. We are always looking for more volunteers - especially fosters. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please check out our volunteer page (https://www.tvar.org/volunteer/) for information.
