This handsome orange tabby has grown up with us at Nuzzles & Co., and now, at almost two years old, he's ready for his forever home. We came across Rapper's shelter profile when he was surrendered and destined for euthanasia; we transferred him into our care. Thankfully, our amazing veterinary team discovered what was wrong and found a way to help him thrive. With daily medication, Rapper's condition is completely manageable, and he's become the sweetest boy who craves love and attention.
Rapper's journey started as a seizuring kitten, found as a stray by a Good Samaritan. He had a small bump on his nose, later diagnosed as a fungal infection, likely Cryptococcus. With treatment, including the antifungal medication Fluconazole, his mobility and symptoms greatly improved. However, as he grew, his seizures returned, and we introduced an anti-seizure medication called Levetiracetam, which has successfully controlled them ever since. Rapper still has a wobbly gait (ataxia) but gets around just fine. He needs to remain indoors in a safe environment and, rest assured, his condition is not contagious to other pets or humans.
Rapper is a funny, outgoing, and fearless cat who loves attention but isn't a fan of restraint. He's always been a great eater and is independent in many ways. One of our fosters, Gavin, shared some insight: "Rapper is a great cat but he lives in his own world. He likes to wander aimlessly and needs space. He's not a lap cat but is affectionate and appreciates pets and scratches. He can nip occasionally, but it's easily discouraged. He's clean, won't ruin your furniture, and needs someone who respects his quirky personality."
While Rapper enjoys exploring, he'll occasionally stop to soak up some love and treats. His unique sideways tail adds to his charm, and his independent yet affectionate personality will make your home more interesting and delightful.
If you're looking for a companion who will bring charm to your world, Rapper is the perfect match!

More about this rescue
Founded in 1990, Nuzzles and Co (formerly Friends of Animals Utah) was just a small group of animal lovers lobbying for a new shelter facility. Today, we are a full-fledged animal rescue and rehabilitation organization with an adoption center, dedicated staff and board of trustees, and a 15,000 sq. ft. facility that includes a full veterinary suite, indoor and outdoor training spaces, miles of hiking trails, and a community cat room with an attached "catio."
