Ozark is a shy senior lady who came to ACCT with few teeth, and a severe upper respiratory infection. While her remaining teeth were loose enough to remove, it was our hope that Ozark would recover, but the shelter is no place for a scared, senior cat; at less than 5lbs, Ozark is at an increased risk of declining.
In her kennel, Ozark has refused even the fishiest of wet foods, and prefers to hide. Staff reported Ozark to be curled up in the corner of her cage, very still, facial expression tense, alert, and eyes narrow and watchful. She accepted pets on the forehead without shrinking away or reacting, and adjusted to get more comfortable after a minute.
We suspect this little lady has been outside for a while, and is slow to trust us humans. Ozark is in need of a quiet place to get some one-on-one time with a new person who will monitor her appetite and help her through recovery.
