Navi von Nidderau is a beautiful 2-year-old German Shepherd with the most soulful eyes. She and her six puppies were rescued by Westside from a home that couldn’t care for them properly. She was very underweight when she was rescued, but in spite of her poor condition, she took amazing care of her puppies. She was so sweet and gentle with anyone who handled her puppies, even right when they were born, because she knew they were there to help her. Navi and her 6 puppies were placed in a foster home where they all thrived. She gained much needed weight and started to realize that life would only get better for her. All her puppies found amazing forever homes…now it’s her turn. Navi is incredibly sweet, very playful, inquisitive and ridiculously smart. She loves to explore the walking paths by her foster home chasing lizards and birds and taking in all the sights. Her favorite thing in the world is playing fetch. She will drop the ball at your feet or put it in your lap and patiently wait for you to throw it for her. She is good with other dogs and is fostered with a senior female German Shepherd. She loves every person she meets and will take treats gently from their hands. True to her German Shepherd genes and will bark at people that enter the property, but once her foster mom tells her they are a friend, she is all kisses and tail wags. If you are looking for a hiking buddy or a dog who loves adventures and the outdoors, Navi is your girl. If you would like to add Navi to your family, start the process by filling out an application. With an approved application, a meet-and-greet can be scheduled with her foster family.
Navi von Nidderau is in a foster home, offsite, and is NOT at our rescue location in Los Angeles.

Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

In order to adopt any dog from Westside German Shepherd Rescue, one must fill out an adoption application first. Upon receipt of your application, a Westside adoption counselor will contact you.We do aerial home checks and you may be asked to supply pictures as well as arranging for a home visit prior to adoption.
Adoption fees vary with each dog and typically range from $150 to $500. They are set, taking into account the dog's age, training level, temperament, if they’re newly arrived, medical condition(s) (if any) and other factors. Adoption fees are used not only to rescue and place the dog you are personally adopting, but to aid in the future rescue and rehabilitation of other deserving dogs. Adoption fees are necessary; without fees, our rescue efforts would quickly come to an end. The adoption fee includes spay/neuter, microchip, and up-to-date vaccinations.
