My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HI!!!! I am Freki (fray-kee) AKA Frank
I am a 3 1/2 years old Male Cattle dog mix. I was found as a stray on Maui. I was fostered there with no success in finding a forever home. There just are not a lot of places for dogs after the horrible fire, and my foster dad had to start traveling for his job, so I just made the long flight from Maui in hopes of finding my perfect forever home here!

I would love an opportunity to show off some of my basic obedience commands such as sit, lets go outside, let’s go inside, touch, leave it, place, wait (for my dinner), come, and kennel. I am FULLY HOUSE TRAINED and love to sleep in my comfy crate at night!
But when I first meet new people, I can be a bit nervous and need a bit of time to warm up to you so I know I am safe with you touching with me. I am more comfortable and warm up faster to females, but regardless, once you gain my trust, you are in my heart BFF's forever.

I love to cuddle, play fetch and treats games and share with my toys with you in hopes we can spend even more time together. I just want every opportunity to spend as much time with my people as possible. My people are my jam. To burn some off energy on my own, I love exploring and hanging out in the yard, playing tug of war, running around, and playing fetch, of course. What working dog doesn’t love a rousing game fetch.

My foster home in Maui had three other female dogs and loved playing with them! I miss my friends. I get along very well with other dogs especially females. I am currently practicing my leash walking skills so I can get really good at walking calmly and taking behavior cues from you as we go. I admit I currently pull a bit while walking. Yes, I get excited but I just need you to help me get better at it. Being a cattle dog it's very hard for me to resist my “herding” instincts; small animals, chickens, cats... So, a home with young children may not be best for me. I am a working dog after all. But I am an amazingly sweet working dog that will entertain you and make you laugh when I am throwing around toys for myself and being a goofy, silly boy.

I am looking for someone who is willing to take the time to allow me feel safe in my new environment and continue to build my confidence. Doesn’t take long. Like I said before, I am a VERY SWEET boy, who just needs the courtesy of time to trust you. Once all the formalities are out of way and you gain my trust, I will be your loyal best friend forever! So, hope you are ready for me to be your adorable, silly, goofy, but maybe a bit clingy best friend.
