My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sweet Sonny

Sonny is one of our 3 boxer mix brothers that we just adore. They are sweet, harmless, big boys. Sonny is the smallest of the three brothers at about 65lbs and also the most reserved. He's such a sweet soul.

The boys were born in North Florida at "rescue" facility and never allowed to be adopted out and leave. Sonny was born in January 2018 and has spent his entire 6 year life there. He came into our rescue in January and has since been working on coming out of his shell.

We have learned that Sonny loves the backyard and gets happy zoomies out there. He has lived with all size dogs - small, medium and large - and currently lives with two cats. He is so submissive that the cats can stand next to him while he eats and he doesn't bat an eye. He's a gem.

Sonny will need time to continue coming out of his shell and learning about the world. However, he's a great dog and an even better companion. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and HW-. He is on inexpensive thyroid medication (about $20 for 6 weeks), but that may not be needed forever. He is in St. Petersburg and his adoption fee is $250.

More about this rescue

We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.

Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
