My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Riley!

This very handsome boy lives on a farm in eastern Colorado. His owner lost his wife recently and now is dying of lung cancer himself. Riley is alone for days on end, and soon will be totally alone if we can't find an amazing, devoted human to adopt him.

Riley is 3 years old, neutered and up to date on his doggie vaccines.

He's reportedly good with other dogs and people, but given his country life he'll need someone who doesn't overwhelm him with city/suburban life... Moving and losing everything will be traumatic for Riley.

Ideally he would have a foster or adopter with a fairly quiet lifestyle and a little bit of land.

Riley has a dog door and no fenced yard -- but he doesn't roam and he comes when called. 💔

A local rescuer who met Riley says this about him:
“I could pet him and he took treats from my hand. His owner says Riley used to go with him to his wife’s family where they had eight dogs. He was fine with all eight dogs at the family's home. Riley does live by himself now and they don’t have a fence in the front yard, so whenever he’s out with his owner he’s got good recall. He came to me whenever I called him. Riley also loves to ride in the car.
"His owner also has lung cancer, so besides not having a wife to take care of the dog any longer he’s also traveling back-and-forth to Pueblo for cancer treatments. He’s very motivated to make sure Riley finds a good home before he is no longer alive."

If you'd love to give this gorgeous boy a great new life, email us for more info and/or to apply to adopt him: SummitDogRescue@gmail.com. In your email tell us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly. Thanks.
