Fostered in California

Hi! I am Lucy, and I am a princess.  I love to cuddle under blankets, go for walks, play hard and eat.  I am very food motivated, so I am easy to train. Except I like to announce mealtimes in a loud voice so you do not forget to feed me.  I love to run and play with other dogs who are bold and energetic, but I am very demanding and domineering over shyer and older dogs.  With that in mind, I would prefer a home with no other dogs, or maybe one young, energetic one that I can run and play with.  I do have a current housemate who I love to wrestle with, but he isn’t available at this time.

Oh, the details.  I am a 10 pound almost three-year-old girl.  I am a Chinese Crested-Chihuahua mix with a few other random genes thrown in.  I have lovely short fur on my head, tail and feet, and some random hairs on my back.  I enjoy wearing clothes, but like any other wrestling girl, they suffer when I play.  I do get chilly, so I wear clothes most days and love to snuggle under blankets.  If you are under the blankets with me, so much the better for snuggling.  I do worry about my complexion, and I do have to constantly battle blackheads, but what is a girl to do!  I tolerate my weekly baths, and relax under the warm dryer.  My hair never needs brushing as my style is wash and wear.

I like to walk on a leash, especially if you take me to the beach.  I love to go to the dog park and run with all the dogs there.  I also like to bark at the big dogs, but because of my size I never go over to play with them.  But I really do love to run.

When you are not home, I will wait in my crate quietly waiting for your return.  When you get home, I won’t let you forget to release me.  I want to be out with you.  Currently, I do not like to sleep in the crate.  I prefer to sleep with my humans.

From her foster mom:  Lucille is an adorable Chinese Crested-Chihuahua dog.  She is usually quite obedient unless she is distracted by bossing other dogs around.  She is treat motivated and learns quickly.  She loves to be the one and only snuggler, she wants all the attention.  Lucy is house trained, but prefers to potty in the house if it is wet or cold outside. On those days I leash her up and walk her until she finishes her job.  Otherwise, she will leave you surprises.  She is up to date on all of her vaccinations, heartworm negative, and gets monthly flea treatment.

More about this rescue

Crest-Care, Inc a 501c3 Corporation
We are a group of individuals living across the United States and Canada, whose goals are to preserve and protect Chinese Cresteds in need. We provide vetting, transportation, and foster homes for each dog in need, until he or she can be carefully matched to an approved home. We provide education about the breed to private individuals interested in adopting, and to shelters as well, in an effort to help ensure the integrity of the breed as a whole. We are involved in Crest-Care, Inc. for no other reason than our concern for Chinese Cresteds in need. We realize our limitations in that we cannot save them all, but working together, we help those we can. We work within the framework of local and civil laws, in order to protect both dogs and all parties concerned.
