My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Bat Girl! I am a 14-year-old lovely lady who has the qualities of a gentle giant. Despite my age and not being able to run as quickly as I used to, I still try to exude a youthful energy and curiosity by chasing lasers and playing with string toys. I spend most of my days napping, but when I am in the mood for affection, I know how to seek out humans for cuddles, pets, and I also love laying in laps! I know I would make a wonderful addition to your home because I am full of love and a great soul to be around. By adopting me, you wouldn't only give me a second chance at a loving home but you would also be gaining a loyal companion who will bring joy and happiness to your life.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
