My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

HOW TO ADOPT: This cat is participating in our Shelter Cat Getaway foster program, which gives cats a vacation from the shelter and lets them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. To schedule a time to meet this cat, please contact Mary at mmccarroll@arl-iowa.org or Carol at cgriglione@arl-iowa.org.

Beatrice and Thistle are Bonded Buddies. They'll be adopted as a pair.

- A low-maintenance and independent cat that does not require a lot of interaction

- She and her bonded buddy will be perfect for someone who has a very chill and low-key cenvironment

- If you like the idea of caring for and loving 2 cats that don't want or need a lot of attenion, these bonded buddies will be ideal

- Not a good fit for young children, as they can be spicy and are quick to let you know if they don't like something with a paw swipe

- Will greet you for pets, and like to rub your legs and chirp

- Content eating dry cat food - not a fan of treats, or canned food

- Prefers not to be picked up

- Very bonded to her buddy - they love to play with each other, and they will run around chasing and play-fighting each day. They also like to sleep next to each other.

- Loves to sit in her cat tower with her bonded buddy for most of the day

This cat can be fearful and may need extra time to adjust to a new home. We've seen good progress here at the ARL, but don't be surprised if it takes several weeks for this cat to become comfortable in a new place. This cat may hide and just observe at first - maybe for quite a while - and that is perfectly normal. Young children are too much for this cat right now, so we are highly recommending a quiet, mature home. We are happy to provide post-adoption resources. If you can give this cat extra time, patience and TLC, please consider adopting! It will be so rewarding to watch them gain confidence and start enjoying all the good things in life!
