My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Meet S’more!

S’more is an 8-year-old, 9 lb. Yorkie/Terrier mix who was rescued from a life of living in a garage. She was partially paralyzed, underweight, and covered in tar when a good Samaritan saved her and contacted us.

S’more has paralyzed back legs, but it doesn’t slow her down. She enjoys cruising around in her new wheelchair, and without wheels, she has no trouble scooting to the toy box to grab a stuffie. Upon arrival, S’more was treated for ear infections, had a dental, and had some wounds treated on her legs. Other than that, she is in good health, requires no medications, and has good vision and hearing. After living in a garage by herself for so long, S’more understandably doesn’t like to be alone for long periods of time. Her ideal home would be with a homebody who loves couch time and a house that has enough room for her wheelchair. She can handle being with other animals, but enjoys being the center of attention, and would be happiest in a quieter household. S’more is still working on potty training and will need help with stairs. She is not great on a leash, so a home with a yard would be best.

S’more loves cuddling and getting petted. She has a great appetite and does excited, happy barks when mealtime comes. S’more loves to play with toys, rip them apart, and watch her foster mama clean up the mess. She makes a great bedwarmer and will happily cuddle up in the blankets. This little lady deserves the best life has to offer. Can it please be with you? Apply today!
