My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bailey! A sweet playful pup currently blossoming in foster care.

Bailey is up for any adventure. Her playful spirit shines brightly & she's not shy about showing her affection, rolling over for belly rubs and wiggling with joy. Meeting new people is simply her favorite!

Her eagerness to please is evident as she responds to commands like "sit" and "paw effortlessly, without needing treats as motivation! She does love a good reward however and sits patiently for her favorite, cheese. Orchid is working to learn "down and "look and she loves playing the game "find it with a treat. This game helps with redirecting her if/when needed.

This gal is move in ready. Bailey is both house and crate trained, she enters crate easily with a treat. She usually walks 2-4 miles a day, with minimal pulling unless she sees a squirrel, which may result in a slight tug of excitement!

Bailey is a true companion waiting for the perfect forever home to share her affinity for affection, calming music, and the great outdoors! Are you ready to welcome Orchid into your heart and home? Reach out to foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in meeting this delightful gal and experience the joy she brings firsthand.

Read what ACCT friends have to say:
2/25/24 volunteer notes: Took Orchid outside today for the first time today. She was easy to leash and excited to go out. Intermittently throughout the walk she would jump up on me and get slightly mouthy but never applying pressure - she just seemed excited. We passed by dogs and although interested, she was easily directed to keep walking. She would sit patiently for treats and allowed, and solicited pets all over. She was loving some ear scratches. She would occasionally jump up in the dog run but remained very playful - rolling over to expose her tummy and wiggling back and forth.

2/4/24 volunteer notes: Orchid was excited to go for a walk, potties outside, knows sit command and will happily sit for a few minutes. Did not need treats to sit. Was a steady walker, did not pull on leash. Allowed pets on head and body. No reaction to the loud noises outside. Occasionally would put her paws on my lap when I was sitting but will come down. Orchid pulled a little towards other dogs as they passed by. I asked Orchid "Who's a good dog? and she replied "Me! by wagging her tail. She responded to my voice and didn't need a treat incentive. When we returned to kennel, Orchid decided to sit outside of the kennel, so I had to step into kennel and she followed me in right away. I gave her some beef jerky treats after I secured her in the kennel and that made her heart happy.

2/4/24 staff notes: Orchid took her treats very gently, she's looks at you with soft eyes at the kennel door and waits patiently for a second treat!

2/4/24 staff notes: When I approached the kennel Orchid was laying in her bed asleep. I made some kissy noises and she jumped right up, wagging her tail and looking up at me with soft eyes and a loose, wiggly body. She was wiggling and hopping in place as I leashed her, but it wasn't difficult. Upon entering the room Orchid sniffed around for a few seconds, and then came right up to me and jumped in my lap. Her body was loose and wiggly. She let me pet her all over, from her head to her paws to her tail. After she got some attention she trotted around the room and explored more. When I got down on the ground with her she would roll over and show her belly, though she didn't want belly rubs, just to show me her belly. Orchid is a playful old lady! She trotted around the room with me and engaged in some tug play. When she didn't have the toy nearby, she would jump on me and mouth my hand during play. She could be corrected and sat down when I told her "no". After her energy was out, she laid by my feet calmly. Orchid could be a bit snatchy with treats, but was also easily corrected and took treats gently. We played with a squeaky tug toy which she enjoyed. She did abandon it halfway through play and mouthed at my hand and jumped on me. She could be corrected, but it took a couple tries for her to get it. When returning to kennel she jumped right in and got back on her bed.

Medical notes:
2/6/24 medical staff noted: When she got her comprehensive medical exam, she was found to have erythema around her eyes (likely a sign of either allergies), mild to moderate dental calculus consistent with her age, signs of dermatitis, a growth on her hing leg, and was found otherwise to be friendly and apparently healthy with no obvious signs of illness or injury. She was prescribed Hydroxyzine for her possible allergies at this time.

2/4/24: When Medical staff first evaluated Orchid she was found to have old sores on her paws, and she was also found to be in heat.
