My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Nicot, a 1-year-old black and tan Shepherd mixed breed. I'm looking for a patient and loving family who will help me overcome my fears and trust issues. I'm a very happy and active boy who loves to play with other dogs. I have a lot of friends in my foster home, like Mimi, Fiona, Loki, and Lexi. They are my pack and I feel safe with them.

I don't like to be on a leash or away from my home, but I'm slowly learning to be more socialized and confident. I will crate well when it's time to sleep, and I will take a treat from your hand if you're gentle, kind and give me some time to trust you. I was found as a malnourished stray when I was 6 months old (photo included), but I'm much healthier and stronger now. I weigh about 35 pounds and I'm a handsome boy. I have not been around kids or cats in foster care, but I'm good with other dogs and can be cat tested if you’d like. Older kids who can understand my need for space until I can trust, are required if there will be kids in the home.

I'm neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm-free. I'm being fostered in Clemmons, NC, but I can be transported to meet you if you're the right match for me. You must be 21 or older to apply, and you must be willing to be very patient with me. If you think you can be my forever family, fill out an application today! I can't wait to meet you!

Go meet their pets

Our adoptable dogs are all in various foster homes and can be met by contacting rescue. Rescue will then provide foster home's contact information. Meet and greets will be arranged between foster and potential adopters. We also have adoption events at Petsmart on various dates which can be checked on our Facebook page, Operation Save a Shelter Dog.

More about this rescue

Our Mission

Operation Save A Shelter Dog is a foster based, IRS-recognized 501c(3) rescue whose mission is to work with shelters on the East Coast by saving dogs at high risk of euthanasia or that have little hope of adoption in their current condition. Not only is it our goal to find furever homes for our dogs, but also to educate the public on the importance of spaying, neutering, vaccinating and providing preventative care for their pets.
