My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**OBIE HAS BEEN ADOPTED!** Pal's Place would love to introduce you to Obie, an extraordinary, resilient, friendly, and happy dog looking for a family as remarkable as he is. Lovable Obie is estimated to be around 7 years of age, weighs in around 30 pounds, and appears to be a Beagle/Terrier mix. Just one month ago (January 2nd), this precious fella's entire world turned upside down, and his recovery has been remarkable and inspiring. Obie was hit by a car and suffered catastrophic injuries to both of his eyes. His eyes were damaged beyond repair, and his only option for a comfortable, pain-free life was the complete removal of both eyes. At seven years of age, Obie suddenly found himself having to learn a new way of navigating and interacting with the world around him. When an older dog becomes disabled in any way, especially very suddenly, there is always a concern they may never fully adjust or lose much of their quality of life. Well, it did not take long for us to see that Obie was not going to let his new disability define him or even slow him down much at all! He has adapted remarkably well, and despite the trauma, his chipper, sunny, and friendly disposition remains intact. He learned the layout of his foster home in less than two days and mastered the stairs in the home within a week. He just needs a little patience and encouragement when introduced to new environments, but he's very inquisitive and always eager to learn and explore. Once he is familiar with an environment, you'd never know he was blind! He loves to wrestle and play with his canine foster siblings, gets up and down familiar stairs on his own, and can even jump over a small baby gate. There is not much a sighted dog can do that a blind dog cannot!
Obie loves meeting new people and pups and is a social butterfly. In Obie's world, everyone is greeted as a long-lost friend! A bright, enthusiastic smile, plentiful tail wags, and a generous number of licks and kisses are what anyone lucky enough to cross paths with Obie can expect. He is a professional cuddler who thrives on human affection and attention. Obie truly is a joy to be around and his zest for life and cheerful personality is contagious. He will be an outstanding, loyal, companion for one very lucky family.
