My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

Estimated birth date: 6/3/23

Personality: Enjoys being held, Friendly toward humans, Sweet, Calm and Mellow

Favorite treats: We are still learning his preferences but seems to love seeds.

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Hamster & Gerbil Food.

Favorite toys and activities: Burrowing/Hiding. Using the wheel & climbing on his hides.

Potty trained: No.

This animal’s daily routine: Chicory is very flexible about his routine.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): No, this animal prefers to live alone.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction: Dog and Cat. No reaction

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? Not exposed to children. However, it seems like Chicory gets startled by accidental/sudden loud noises. So it would be best for him to go to a home with older/more considerate children.

Health concerns: Chicory has recently been diagnosed with an inoperable Mast Cell Tumor on his head. He is receiving daily oral medications which he accepts very willingly that will be continued for the remainder of his life. These medications cost approximately $60 for a year's supply.

Behavioral concerns: None

Other notes: He is a super chill hamster who lets you pick him up easily. He will excitedly come up to my hand if I have a treat.

Chicory was taken in by a member of the public to prevent him from becoming food for another animal. He then came to MNPPR.

Due to our rescue being foster based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Eden Prairie PetSmart - 11200 Prairie Lakes Dr, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: Chicory has an adoption fee of $15

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

Chicory is a Dwarf Hamster.

Chicory's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for Chicory or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.

More about this rescue

MN Pocket Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization primarily serving the Twin Cities Metro Area, focusing on education and public outreach. Our intent is to keep all animals in their homes, with their families, whenever possible. We are committed to rescuing those pocket pets that are in jeopardy of being euthanized or are in danger of being abused, left unattended or in other types of vulnerable situations. We ensure all animals receive proper veterinary care, medication and special training for any behavioral issues, as well as to arrange safe, temporary homes for these animals until stable forever homes can be found. Our team is made up of enthusiastic volunteers who work passionately to serve the underrepresented and often misunderstood niche of pocket pets in the overall rescue community and general public.
