My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.*

Natchez Trace is a 3-5 year old shepherd mix that was found along the natchez trace. He is a sweet fellow who walks great on a leash, is housebroken, and loves to flop on the couch. He gets along great with other large dogs and older children. Like a grumpy old man he does not have the patience for small children or small dogs who yap at him. He also doesn't care for cats. His adoption fee has been reduced to $350.00 due to length of time in foster care. With his calm and steady personality he would make a great addition to a home looking for a large dog for an elderly person needing company. He promises to be the best guard dog in return for head scratches and the occassional treat.

Listed breed is an educated guess made by our veterinarian and is NOT a guarantee - this also means we have no way of knowing what a puppy's adult size will be.

This dog is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via Barton's Barkers transport services upon adoption. Their adoption fee is $350 and includes spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, microchip and transport costs. Second Chances lists dogs as being available in White River Junction, VT because we transport our dogs to the area every 3rd week after they have been adopted. All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.

More about this rescue

We are a small volunteer non-profit 501c(3) rescue group located in Pontotoc, Mississippi serving to match New England adopters with their perfect family member. All of our rescues are in private foster homes where they are treated like family. We do not operate a physical shelter. We are happy to provide vet references and testimonials from previous New England adopters.

All of our local shelters have a high euthanasia rate due to overpopulation so we created our rescue group to primarily adopt to the northern states to help keep as many dogs as we can from entering our kill shelters.
