My story

Sammy is looking for an active forever family or a family with a big fenced in yard as he has lots of energy and absolutely loves to run. He is dog friendly but I would recommend dogs equal or bigger to his size as he does play rambunctiously with them and also a dog that can handle rough housing and play growls. He is incredibly fast and also can jump high so if you are looking for a dog for agility, he is incredibly smart and treat motivated. He loves zoomies. He learned his routine so quick. Is crate trained, Has great recall. He loves to snuggle and will cuddle up with you on the couch in a heartbeat. Walks on the leash but still working with him not to pull. He also does jump on you so continued training will be needed and because of this we recommend no small children..

Sammy has the most beautiful shiny black coat, beautiful smile, and is a great size at about 44lbs. He eats a lot because he is so energetic.

He would love to become your running, walking, hiking partner and I know will be the most loyal best friend you could ever ask for. He is cute, lovable, sweet, funny and ready for his forever family to love back. And ready to go with you on car rides.

His DNA came back and was a surprise. He is actually a German Short-haired Pointer/Jindo mix with a little Pointer.

Sammy is neutered, up to date on vaccines including Canine Flu, HW negative and on HW Preventative. Approx. 1 1/2 years old.

Sammy needs a home with no small farm animals, chickens, ducks, etc as well as no cats.

Sammy was growing up at a local shelter . The shelter could not believe he had not gotten adopted. They had even taken him to several events because he was so good. Little Buckets pulled him into our care so he didn't have to grow up in the shelter one more day. Now we want him to find his new family.

• Due to the rising cost of veterinary care, and to ensure we can continue to save animals in danger, along with providing excellent vetting care, our adoption fees range from $75 - $400 to include spay/neuter, vaccinations, heart worm test, and any medical needs the animal incurred while in our care. We operate only on contributions from our supporters and are very grateful for their support.

A home Visit is done and the animal meets all members of your family. We require a signed contract with the adopter with an agreement to return the animal to APS if the adopter cannot continue to care for their animal

All of our pets are in foster homes. In order to meet them we ask that you fill out our nonbinding adoption application on our website. Our adoption coordinator will then call you to set up a time and place for you to meet the animal. We participate in several "Meet & Greet" events each year. It is possible to meet our animals at these events, but we do not bring all animals to all evens.

More about this rescue

Animal Protection Society of Person County is a non-profit 501c3 organization. We are a group of volunteers who open our hearts and homes to the homeless, neglected, and abused animals. We rescue animals from the shelter that are in danger of being euthanized and we take in owner surrenders. We receive no public funding. Donations are our main source of income. We are always in need of more foster homes. Without our fosters, we could not function. APS is an organization which is over 20 years old and we hope to serve our area for many more years to come.
