My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Maple! I was found living outside a home, so hungry I was eating bird seed that had fallen on the ground. Luckily I was rescued and am now a healthy, happy girl! I am super friendly - all I want is attention and pets. I purr when my cheeks get rubbed and stick my butt in the air to make it easier for you to scratch.

I can be adopted to a home with other cats, as long as they are all friendly. I tend to get picked on a bit here at the rescue. I’m good with all aged kids so far, and I’ve never met a dog.

More about this rescue

Ahimsa Safe Haven is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit located in Onsted, MI. We are a forever home to cats with feline leukemia, abandoned small farm animals and aquatic life. We also rescue and rehome kittens. What does Ahimsa mean? Essentially, at the most basic level, ahimsa is the concept that we are all connected, and any harm done to others is harm done to oneself. We are unique because we rescue small farm animals from cruelty and slaughter situations. We also provide a forever home to cats with Feline Leukemia, that would have otherwise been euthanized just because they tested positive. We are big in adopting out rescued cats and kittens. We also rescue aquatic life that have been completely abandoned. With all of the lives we save, we use their stories to help educate and connect the world into thinking differently. Ahimsa is a rescue that the community can come experience, interact and connect with all kinds of animals that would otherwise have been sacrificed to feed them.
