My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet River, a 4-month-old pup who goes with the flow. Put him in any situation and his tail will be wagging. He’s fearless and playful with dogs of any age and size, and he adores humans, especially kids.

River is the last pup available from a litter of four that was pulled from a rural shelter in January. His siblings are all getting glowing reviews in their forever homes. Thanks to a breed test done on one of his siblings, we know that River is a Treeing Walker Coonhound/Lab mix. No wonder this little guy is so friendly and so good with kids!

River is solidly potty trained and sleeps for up to 10 hours in his crate at night without having to go outside. He’d be perfect for a family who wants a puppy but doesn’t want to deal with potty training and crate training. He’s already mastered all of that! He may seem fun and a bit goofy, but he’s very smart.

River is an energetic pup, but he knows how to entertain himself with toys and exploration in the yard. He takes a good amount of naps throughout the day. He spent four weeks with the rescue’s dog trainer, who worked on teaching him to settle. We’d love to find him a home where his family would want to continue his training to make him the best dog he can be! He’s super food motivated, so training him should be easy and enjoyable.

River weighs about 25 lbs at 4 months old, and we’re guessing he’ll be around 60 lbs when full grown.
