More Info: I have been at the shelter since Nov 30, 2023.

Meet Lucien! He came to us as an owner surrender because his former family could no longer keep him. He’s a load of fun! He is a silly and smart guy that is looking for a family that will provide him with enrichment. He was friendly and playful when meeting another dog. We are recommending he go into a home with children 10 years and older.

We are a group of people dedicated to rescuing dogs from crisis situations, some of which include euthanasia by animal shelters, neglect and other forms of abuse, or "free to a good home" ads, which result in dogs being bounced from one home to another, or being acquired by animal brokers ("bunchers") and sold to research laboratories where they are used for testing then discarded ("cruelty industries").

NBCR&P works primarily with 5 herding breeds, and herding breed mixes. On occasion, NBCR&P also rescues and places other breeds. We foster our dogs in a home environment, rather than a kennel, if at all possible. We take pride in our promise that at any time and for any reason in the dog's life, if the need arises, he or she has a safe place with us ("return to rescue" policy).
