My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

SOCIALIZATION SPECIAL NEEDS. Fozzy Fosbourne will need a special, patient adopter who will take things at HIS pace. He was part of a breeder surrender from Missouri. He clearly didn’t have proper human interaction prior to Rescue, as he can be painfully nervous around people. However, in his few months with Pawfect, he has learnwe that humans aren’t so terrible!!! He can still be both approach and touch averse in occasion, and he does startle very easily, but he will now stand quietly next to you, waiting to be picked up and cradled like a baby. Once he knowns you’re safe, he really just wants to be cuddled!!!

He has not been leash walked, as he’s still nervous and startles way too easily; he may never be a dog who will be up for walks or hikes or public adventures. Any candidates need the full understanding that he is considered a flight risk, so extra diligence will be needed to ensure Fozzy Fosbourne does not ever get loose; a fully fenced/secure backyard is required.

Animals, however, are his JAM! Fozzy Fosbourne loves to play bow, rip and romp with his canine companions; he gains confidence from other dogs and will often look to them to see what he should be doing. Another dog, or dogs, is required in his forever home. He does not mind cats one bit and will let them come up and sniff all over him; one of his foster home cats will even wrap her arms around his neck with zero reaction from the Fozzbutt! He’s fine with human children, too, but an overly rambunctious or active household would likely leave him in a constantly startled state. Fozzy Fosbourne’s forever home will need to be on the quieter side.

If you’re an amazing and patient human who’s looking for a special boy to join your family, consider applying for Fozzy Fosbourne.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

♥ The first step is to fill out our adoption application on our website at www.pawfectmatch.org under Adoption Information.

♥ Once we receive your application, the second step will be for our volunteers to check your vet reference and talk with your personal references.

♥ The third step, if your application is approved, is for our volunteers to contact you about scheduling a home check. This is not to see what kind of house you live in or how clean or dirty it is. It is simply to see if the yard size, fencing, etc is compatible with your dog of interest. It also allows other animals in your household as well as children to meet your potential new dog to see if everyone will get along and to make sure this is truly a "pawfect" match!

♥ After all three of these steps are completed, the final step is to sign the adoption contract and make the adoption donation fee of $300.00. This may seem high, but it is actually a bargain! Your new pet will be up to date on the necessary vaccinations required by the age of the dog at time of adoption, spayed or neutered, on heartworm preventative and flea and tick meds, micro-chipped, groomed, and well on his or her way with basic obedience and house training. All of our dogs will be adopted out with a collar and leash, and a PMR tag.

♥ NOTE - If you have "spam protection" turned on for your email account, please set a white filter to allow emails from pawfectmatch@gmail.com to pass. We will NOT respond to spam protection response emails.

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer rescue organization devoted to saving dogs from shelters, puppy mills, abusive situations and abondonment in North Carolina. Our members foster, transport and help the rescue efforts with their individual skills, experience, knowledge and expertise, and most importantly, their love of dogs.

At Pawfect Match Rescue we believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance regardless of their breed or age.

We take a different approach to rescue. We don’t try to save the masses; we just save ONE at a time and make them the best dog they can be by the time they find their forever homes.

By that we mean that we take them into our homes where they live amongst us and our pets and are treated as one of the family, not as a foster dog. We accomplish this by limiting our fosters to one or two per household.

Besides the basics of crate training and house training, we teach them basic obedience, we groom them, feed them a high quality dog food, and last but not least, we shower them with LOVE and attention that hopefully teaches them to trust again and realize that life really IS good..

We’ll never be able to save them all, no matter how many we try to pull and foster. So we believe that the one at a time approach with the extra TLC allows us to really KNOW the dogs and be able to match them more precisely with their new families.

This ends up being a win- win situation for all involved.

Pawfect Match is all volunteer and relys soley on adoption donation fees and public support. Most times our adoption donations do not cover our medical expenses.
