My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Joy, or Joey, is a trainer's dream! As a Border Collie/Pit Bull Terrier mix, this pup is super smart, athletic, and driven. Do you like to run? Bike? Explore the great outdoors? Look no further! Joey is dying to join you.

Full of curiosity and joie de vivre, lil Jo is a social butterfly who loves everyone she meets. She is super eager to learn, is very food motivated, and is fun to train. This pup would be an obedience rockstar and excel in agility or other dog sports. I could see her benefitting from scent work as well, as her terrier side loves to sniff, and she has a high prey drive that you'll want to continue helping her harness. Other activities she loves include treadmill (great during inclement weather!), flirt pole training, forage games, belly rubs, playing tug, the list goes on!

Not only will Joey's forever human/s be getting an ace sidekick, but they'll also be bringing home a dog with a very strong foundation. We've trained almost every day since she made the trek to Minnesota back in February, and I am so proud of how far she's come. Aside from being fully crate trained and potty trained, Joey has made huge strides in many important areas, including recall, impulse control, loose leash walking, learning to relax at home, and so much more. She goes to a great doggy daycare once a week, as well as an obedience class. To continue thriving, Joey will need a dedicated steward who can make sure she gets the mental, physical, and social activity (balanced with calm time!) she needs in order to be her best doggy self.

While Joey could be a solo dog, her dream home would have another dog friend for her to play with and learn from, as well as plenty of space to run and sniff around. This kid ruff ruff ruffs playing with other pups! In terms of cats, a cat-free home would be best, as her "RA RA LET'S PLAY energy is a bit much for feline friends. For homes with children, one with older kids is recommended, as Joey is still a puppy who is learning manners.

So if you think this sweet, energetic girl might be a match, hit that "Apply for Adoption button! Joey can't wait to meet you ^_^

Medical Note: Joey is on a hydrolyzed protein diet to help with her digestion and is doing great!

Personal Note: As Joey's foster, I also want to offer her future forever home as much help as needed with the adoption transition. I love this girl so deeply, and she deserves all the support and care in the world. <3

Are you thinking about putting in an application for me but wondering about continued training? Not to worry! My adoption comes with training support, because The Bond Between (TBB) wants to set up me and my family for success. The trainer is happy to give you more information about this and will tell you that I am so worth it!

Go meet their pets

The Bond Between's goal is to not keep any animals at our rescue office. The majority of our animals are living in foster homes until they are adopted. Occasionally, animals are living in our rescue office that are in need of a foster home.

If you would like to meet an animal at our office who needs a foster, please reach out to inofficeanimals@thebondbetween.org and fill out our foster interest form at https://www.thebondbetween.org/foster

For more information on fostering or adoptable animals, please visit https://www.thebondbetween.org.

More about this rescue

The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.

We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.

You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
