My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Wonton --- the cutest boy we've seen in a long time! He was rescued from the euthanasia list in a Colorado shelter and is now learning that life is great in a foster home.

Here's what Wonton says:

"I'm a cuddly guy and I love people! I'd be an awesome dog to sit next to you while you work, or snuggle up on your lap when you watch Netflix. (Shhh.... don't mention that I'm 60 lbs. because I still like laps.)
"I love people who laugh and are joyful! But I'm also OK if you are one of those people who are sad a lot --- I'll make you feel better. I could be your therapy dog as long as you'll love me as much as I love you.
"I'm looking for my forever home now. My life was probably hard before coming into my foster home, and I spent most of my life being left outside, away from my people. Now my ideal home would have humans arond most of the time. My foster Mom and the rescue folks are helping me learn that I'm OK alone at home. Also I never got to go to puppy class or go on walks before, so I get curious and excited when I see other dogs. Now I'm learning now to gently approach other dogs on walks, and/or move past them without stopping. But I'm sooo smart, and I love learning."
Love, Wonton

Wonton is making great strides with his separation anxiety, as he's now able to be alone for an hour in his foster home, calmly resting by the door. His adoption fee of $325 comes with behavior and training support, as do all our dogs. We do adopt out of state, and transport can be arranged, depending on where you live.

Wonton's ideal home would have a fenced yard (or rural land) and someone home most of the time (or very committed to working on his separation anxiety).

. He does love going on car rides, so in a cool climate he can go on errands with you.
. He doesn't currently live with another dog. He does play hard, so an older feeble dog would not be a good fit (we think).
. Cats could be tough as he has prey drive, so probably no cats in the home.

Additional adoption info

First you must fill out an application which we will review. Then we will do a phone interview, reference check and finally a home visit before a dog is placed in your home. We ONLY adopt to homes where the dog is an indoor dog, part of the family and treated as such. We stress excellent nutrition, proper training and follow up with all our adopters.

We are probably have one of the more thorough and difficult adoption processes... and we love that people want to adopt and don't want to discourage adopters! So please, if you're in a hurry, or not an exceptional furever home - please try other rescues or a SHELTER is a great option too!
