My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

***In order to alleviate the need to bring an animal into the shelter environment, The Anti-Cruelty Society has the Home-to-Home Shelter Bypass service to help people find new accommodations for their pets privately. These animals are not located in any of the Society's physical locations. If you are interested in adopting this animal, please do NOT click the Adopt Me button and instead reach out to the current owner directly via the email provided in the profile. As this is a Home-to-Home animal you are not required to fill out an Anti-Cruelty Society adoption application form. ***

Her name is Chestnut, and she is believed to be a Cane Cross/Mastiff mix. She's a beautiful brindle approximately 4.5 years old and 100 lbs. She has been spayed and is up to date on rabies, distemper/lepto and Bordetella vaccines. She has been on continuous flea/tick preventative since June of 2023. She was found as a stray with no tags or microchip and has been boarded at Sibley Animal Hospital, 1020 Sibley Blvd, Calumet City since June. She is a gentle giant. One of the staff at Sibley is about 100 lbs. and is Chesnut's buddy. They play tug-of-war and while Chestnut could throw her around like a rag doll, she never even pulls on her. She takes treats very gently and never messes in her kennel. She is a little slow to warm up to people (no more than a few minutes), men in particular, but once she does, she's a love bug. She is fine with the house cats and other dogs. She is in perfect health and is on no medications other than the preventatives. While everyone at Sibley loves her, a kennel is no place for her. She deserves a loving home since she has nothing but love to give.
