Simon is an itty-bitty 1 ½ yr old, 4 lb, Yorkshire Terrier who came to us as a “breeder” release dog which means she had never lived in a home as someone’s beloved family member.
Simon’s foster mother says he was initially shy but warmed up quickly. He is affectionate and appreciative. Simon likes to snuggle up close to his person in bed and gets along well with the other small dogs in his foster home.
He is learning leash training and has a way to go on housetraining. He has not figured out steps yet, so he would do best in a home and yard where there are few or no steps.
Simon could be an only dog or have another tiny dog, under 8 lbs, which is our preference.
WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD. The secure fence must be 4ft or higher, with gaps no greater than 1 1/4 inches, and attached to the home. An invisible fence, enclosed patio, terrace or deck, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing) it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions.
We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business.
Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, North Carolina to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports.
Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing.
Adoption Fee: $500
