My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Beagle Mix, 1 year, 26lbs, Spayed

Level of dog ownership experience needed

BEGINNER: This means we predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale due to its breed/age combo. Potentially a good fit for someone who has relevant dog care experience (fostering, dog sitting) and is looking to adopt their first pup.

Energy Level:

MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)

Her Foster Mom Says: "Blackberry is such a sweet girl! She’s a total cuddle bug and wants to be on your lap getting her belly rubbed whenever she gets the chance. After a long walk in the morning she sleeps most of the day and takes breaks to play and is starting to love fetch (she’s still learning she has to bring it back for me to throw the toy again). She loves walking and enjoys chasing squirrels and scaring away pigeons! When she is asleep, she is constantly dreaming and kicking her paws, it’s so cute! She is a bit awkward around other dogs and doesn’t initiate playing and tends to get nervous when other dogs try to but is usually curious to sniff other dogs. She is a super sweet girl!"

Potty Trained: Yes!!

Cuddle Bug Level - high

Leash manners- medium- she’s pretty good most of the time but does pull and is still figuring out how to walk straight

Okay in the city- yes- she does get spooked by ambulances and street cleaners but less and less as she hears them more

Jumping on people- yes when she’s super excited (when I come home usually) but is getting much better with correction

Separation anxiety- medium, cries but then settles down. Doesn't do anything destructive when left home alone.

Social with other dogs?
Yes, seems to be good with other dogs. Would be okay in a home with another social dog similar in energy.

Social with cats?
Not sure yet! But we think she would be okay in a home with a cat.

Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)
Yes. We think that she will be okay in a home with respectful kids aged 6 and up.

Medical status
Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake

How this dog ended up with Social Tees:
Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save the

PLEASE NOTE: This animal is not at the Social Tees office — all of our dogs and cats are in foster homes while they wait to find their forever families. :) If you’d like to apply to adopt this pet, please complete an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Because we are a small team and receive hundreds of applications each week, we are unable to respond to every application and every inquiry email, but we do our best. Please have patience! If your application is approved, you will for sure hear from us. If you have questions, please take a look at the Adoption and Fostering FAQs etc. on our website as all common questions are answered there. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to save these innocent lives!!
