My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poor Hazel has not had an easy go at life, she was originally surrendered by her owner in 2016 for unknown reasons. Next, she was adopted and kept in that home for 5 whole years until her behavior became a bit moody. Her owners did not want to take her to the vet or try and see if there was a fixable, underlying cause to this mood change, and she was once again brought to our shelter. We did not observe any issues with her behavior after she came back. Hazel was then adopted again, and this time her new owner had her for about a year before Hazel began to display anxious behaviors and became skittish around sudden movements, so she was once again returned to the shelter. Since her return, Hazel has been fearful and protective. Hazel has now been a part of 3 different families who gave up on her, and she needs someone who will be very patient with her and respect her boundaries in order for her to come out of her shell and become the lovely cat we all know her to be when she feels safe. Please understand that she is under stress from all of the life changes and she will require being worked with. Hazel has been vaccinated, wormed, spayed/neutered and tested negative for FELV/FIV which is all included in the $70 adoption fee. If you would like to adopt this cat, you must come into the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 12-4. (Closed Mondays & Wednesdays) All cats must leave the shelter in a carrier. If you do not bring one with you, one must be purchased at the shelter if available for $5.
