My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jude.
Jude came to us as a stray and had neurological issues. After some digging, we found that Jude was positive for Ehrlichia due to all of the ticks she had on her upon her arrival. After Doxy treatment her symptoms have improved, but she will always have some neurological quirks about her.
She is only around 45 pounds and loves people. She does seem to be selective with other dogs, so we would recommend a meet and greet with any current pups.
Jude also has a lot of energy and would love a family to exercise with.

Since being with us for more than 6 months, we consider this animal our Lonely Hearts which makes their adoption fee only $20.

Notes from Foster:

Jude is doing really well here, just as a general update 🙂 we tested the waters with some dog friends and she has gotten along with all of them, excited to play! She knows how to lie down on command now which is helpful getting her to settle on the couch, and she loves any veggie we have given here, especially crunchy ones.

I would describe Jude as energetic and rambunctious. She will greet you will enormous excitement when you come into the house by spinning and (we are working on dissuading this behavior) jumping up on you. Her favorite activities include cooking with you where she will watch your every movement and eat almost any vegetable you present her with, as well as playing tug and fetch with her favorite toys. When she's sleepy, she does love to settle down to cuddle and nap with you or sit with you as you watch television. She is housebroken, but we recommend going outside with her to remind her to pee, she's distractable in the yard. She is also crate-trained, which is where she stays when no one is home, and she knows to go in her crate with 'place'. She also knows her name for recall as well as the commands 'sit' and 'stay'. She walks pretty well on a leash and even better with some training treats, and she checks in with you after passing a potentially scary dog, person, or trash can.

She is selective with strangers, which can spook her on walks or make her react if she hears loud noises coming from outside while she's in the house. Once gently introduced to a person, she can make friends with them however. When Jude is overstimulated, she gets mouthy, so an enrichment toy or slow-feeder have been some devices we've used to redirect her energy into something more productive.
