Bevo Garza arrived at the shelter in February as an owner surrender. His owners provided him with a loving life since he was a puppy, but had to make an extremely difficult decision after being evicted. They’ve had Bevo since he was a baby. He’s known nothing else in his young life but a home and loving family. Since coming to the shelter, he is very shy, confused, and doesn’t understand what has happened. We are hoping to find Bevo another loving home again ASAP so he can be the playful, curious, loving boy that he is! A staff member who met him said that he is a big, gentle, and happy soul. He loves people, is so affectionate and has the wiggliest body. He also thinks pupperoni treats are delightful.
One year old pups like Bevo Garza offer the opportunity to still shape and mold their behaviors, and instill positive habits and training. At one year old, he has a longer attention span than a baby pup, and has experience living with humans in a loving home. At just 1, you will get to witness the exciting milestones of his growth, like learning tricks and commands, exploring new places and creating a strong bond together.
He would love if you came by AAC and said hi, spoke kind encouraging words to him, and considered fostering or adopting him. This gentle giant needs some help finding his footing again, and we know that his big heart is going to repay you with loyalty and affection for life.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day! For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites. For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.
Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older
