My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

>> COURTESY POSTING <<

Hello my name is Junior! I am a very handsome 6 year old bully mix with the biggest heart. Admirers say my floppy ears are my cutest attribute, but my foster mom thinks my wiggles and kisses are. I greet her with some every time she comes in the room. Even though I am a big boy, I think I’m a lap dog and love to cuddle with my humans.

Since leaving the shelter, I have truly started to blossom and shed the stress of being in shelter care for several months. I love being in the company of humans! I’m quite affectionate and would like nothing more than to sit by your side and binge on some Netflix. Even though I’m a mellow guy, I still really enjoy getting out and going on regular adventures, whether it’s a nice long walk, hike, or car ride! I enjoy being outside and rolling in the grass and sniffing everything!

I know basic commands and am working on learning even more and building my confidence with them. I’m responsive, take treats sweetly, and do not beg or exhibit any counter surfing while the humans are eating. I’m smart and super motivated by tasty treats!

My ideal home would have experience with dogs and can offer me a committed routine of consistency, companionship, daily exercise and continued training. I enjoy the company that children provide and do well with them. I think I might be best as the only dog in the household (at least initially!) while I learn how to refine my manners in a stable home. Small dogs can sometimes make me nervous, however I may do well with another well mannered larger dog after a proper introduction. I haven’t yet been tested with cats.

I’m really hoping to find a cozy forever home or foster home soon, with lots of treats and a human(s) to love forever. I promise to shower you with kisses and cuddles. If you’d like to meet me, please fill out an application and my advocate will be in touch soon.

MORE INFO ABOUT JUNIOR:
My family and I have taken him out of the shelter on several walks and hikes. I’ve found that he is such a sweet boy, he’s great with kids, knows "sit" "stay" and "down" commands, he is very loving, gentle and affectionate, with that classic silly pittie personality, easy to walk, and takes treats from my hand gently. When he sits next to you, he loves to lean in for cuddles.

Initially he would likely do best as the only dog in the household. With some time, I imagine, with proper introduction, he could do well with another big dog. With people, he’s just amazing. He’s a fabulous dog and would make such a wonderful companion for someone. Once this gentle giant finds his forever home, he is sure to steal your heart!

According to one of the volunteers,

He is such a sweet boy; he’s great with my 8-year-old daughter, very affectionate, silly, easy to walk, and gently takes treats from my hand. According to the shelter, he is selective with other dogs, but as far as I know, he has no other issues. He’s just a fabulous dog and would make such an excellent companion for someone.
