Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hello there, I'm Rhoda. I've been told I'm quite the charmer with my sweet, friendly nature. I'm gentle and mellow, which means I'm great company for those quiet evenings at home. I'm not one for causing a fuss, I'm more about the cuddles. I love nothing more than snuggling up and sharing some warmth. I'm also quite the listener. You can tell me about your day, your dreams, or even your favorite book. I promise to be the most loyal friend you've ever had. Why should you adopt me? Because I will fill your life with unconditional love, companionship, and endless cuddles. I'm ready to be your best friend, are you ready to be mine?

Falling in love with a pet is easy and pet ownership is very rewarding. Adopting a pet, however, is a big decision. Dogs, cats, and other furry friends require a lot of time, money, and commitment. Our experienced adoption counselors will gladly help you find an animal that's likely to be a good fit for your lifestyle and living arrangements.
Adoption Fees:
Puppies (six months and younger): $150
Dogs: $85
Senior Dogs (7 years and older): $55
Heartworm Treated Dog: $135
Kittens (six months and younger): $85
Cats: $65
Senior Cats (7 years and older): $25
The adoption fee includes the cost of spaying or neutering your pet, micro-chipping, annual vaccinations and a rabies vaccination. There is an additional $13 fee for a Sarasota County rabies tag and registration for Sarasota County residents. Dogs must go home with a leash and collar and cats must go home in a carrier; all are available in our retail store.
Once you've decided that you're ready to make the commitment, check out our website at www.hssc.org to search our adoptable animals.
