My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to the present confrontational Middle East environment where this dog resides, airlines are minimally operating. He/She may therefore be delayed in arriving to Canada. He/She will eventually be sent, but we have no specified timeframe at this moment. If you are willing to wait, we and this dog appreciate your patience.

Happy day all. My name is TOCIE (Jagjaghe) and here is a little info about me:
Breed: Carpathian Shepard mix
Age: 7 yrs
Gender: female
Weight: 30 kg
Height: 55 cm
Highlight(s): sweet, friendly, loves touch, low-key

I am just a lovely girl that you will fall in love with. Yes I am as beautiful on the inside as the outside.

Originally rescued as a puppy, along with a dog named Manta (he found a home in Canada last year '23) and my rescuer found a home here for me. Sadly, my owner got cancer and the family decided to give me up. Not uncommon in my Middle East country. They won't even hold me til I find a home.

So my rescuer has been trying to find a foster for me without much luck. I am temporarily staying in a garden area, but it isn't safe here. The well collapsed and my rescuer needs to move.

Hoping you will be my angel and bring me to awesome Canada. I am quite friendly and love being touched. Hence the name, Tocie, short for Oxytocin. Were you aware when you pet a dog, not only do we get the spectacular hormone Oxytocin moving through our body system, but you do as well? Oxy is the "love" chemical. It makes you feel oh soooo good. I will be happy to provide this beneficial biochemistry any time you want it.

While I had distemper as a puppy, I am healthy with no issues. I spent a lot of time with Manta and when he left I got lonely and depressed. Now I have lost my owner. Please tell me you are looking for a companion for life. If you do work from home, I am doubly thrilled.

I am housetrained and walk well on leash. I do fine with other dogs, so another doggie friend in the home is a-ok with me. No interaction with cats or kids yet.

I would really enjoy a home that is chilled out, like me, but I imagine once I know I have my forever home, my energy will come up a bit. So let's make sure we do some leisurely outings too, like beach walks or mountain trails maybe. I hear tale those are great there in Canada. Waiting for you, my soul mate.

Energy Level: low

I get along with:
Dogs: yes
Cats: unknown
Kids: unknown

Fears: if any known, explain or unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.

Training: briefly describe
Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training.
House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.

Health notes: had distemper as a puppy
I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.

Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.

Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.

Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.

While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs.

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.

Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.

[TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.

More about this rescue

Loved At Last Dog Rescue operates in the Greater Vancouver area. We rescue and rehome local dogs as well as homeless dogs from numerous countries around the world, including Mexico, Korea, China, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain and India. Many of these dogs have experienced hardship and cruelty yet they are gentle and loving. We have found that dogs who have experienced suffering appreciate every kindness shown them. All our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped and those over 6 months are spayed or neutered.
