Meet Leia 6890
The photographer loves his chance to watch the entertainment provided by Humane Society canines. He was old enough to wait in a line stretching around a large city block to eventually get access to a first day showing of Star Wars and was rewarded a seat at the end of the front row closest to the curved screen. It was a blurry but mind-blowing entrance into the new world of Sci Fi ambiance. For those of you who never had that chance, the Humane Society for Animals in Rogers, AR gives you an opportunity to experience the romance, the adventure and the awe-inspiring action of Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, living the quest in real-life, and real-time canine 3D. Leia, and her brother Luke, never stopped their performance for the entire 45 minute show and brought smiles and cheers from all the HS volunteers who were lucky enough to find a guaranteed, free-admission “seat” along the encompassing bark park fence. The youthful 9-month-old thespians hugged, tugged, and out-witted all the Evil Empire Stormtrooper squeakies, even those cleverly disguised as a surreal green Gumby. All the squeakies survived for an assumed sequel with the exception of a Wampas, whose snowy remains were strewn about as Leia and Luke looked on with smiles of accomplishment as they proudly and synchronously wagged their white tipped tails. Leia and Luke are friendly, fun-loving, and joyful pups who are hoping to share their lives with humans who will join them in the ultimate adventure.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $70 which covers all the basic shots and worming medications appropriate for the age of the animal as well as the required spaying or neutering. If the animal is too young to be neutered, a voucher is presented to the adopter to cover the process at a participating vet. Rabies shots are not included. We have an application process in which we ask basic questions to insure that you and the chosen pet are a good match for each other. We do require a vet reference. If you have been arrested and convicted of animal abuse or neglect, you will not be considered for adoption. If you do not own your home, a letter from the landlord giving permission to have a pet is required. Local ordinances regarding maximum numbers of pets shall be observed. All other household pets must be spayed or neutered. All pets are adopted "as is." Should the pet not work out after you take it home, we ask that you return the animal to us for re-homing. We want each animal to find a loving forever home and reserve the right to refuse any application should the individual needs of the chosen animal not be in that dog's best interest. Contact our office for inquiries and applications.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society for Animals is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides for the welfare of dogs and cats in Benton County through shelter and adoption services, spaying and neutering vouchers, and humane education.
The Humane Society for Animals has held over 90,000 animals since it originally opened in 1972. Our facility at 1st and Nursery Rd. was built in 1980 and continuously houses a total of around 85 dogs and 20 cats. Most of our cats and dogs are strays that have been dumped or abandoned. Others come from local animal control agencies and from people who can no longer care for them, that live in the county. We offer the public numerous opportunities either to donate or get involved. Please contact us to see how you can help.
