My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**JACKSON HAS BEEN ADOPTED!** Jackson is a charming, friendly, distinguished, and regal senior gentleman looking for a loving home! Pal's Place rescued this handsome, mature pooch from an overburdened animal control facility in rural Kentucky. He is estimated to be between 7 and 10 years of age and is a thin 60 pounds. He's working towards a more ideal weight of 70-75 pounds. Jackson's breed is unknown, but based on appearance and characteristics, we suspect he is mostly Boxer, possibly with Bullmastiff or another similar breed down the line in his family tree. Animal control facilities are stressful environments for any animal, but we know it's especially tough on seniors. We spotted Jackson's sweet, wise, gray muzzle at the shelter and knew he belonged in our foster program. He was an unclaimed stray, so his background is unknown, but judging from his condition upon intake, his previous life was a challenging one. Most of his teeth are ground down or broken, a condition we commonly see in dogs chained or confined for long periods. They will chew on their chains or kennels out of boredom, anxiety, or in an effort to free themselves. He had multiple open sores on his legs and feet, was malnourished, and was infested with fleas. Despite a rough past, resilient, forgiving, wonderful Jackson remains a friendly, loving, and highly affectionate guy. Although a senior, he is still quite spry, has a lot of pep in his step, loves toys, and retains an adorable puppy-like playfulness and sense of humor! He is very curious, loves to explore and go for walks, and is happy to be included in any activity his humans engage in. Jackson still has a lot of love to give, and we'd be so thrilled to find him the home of his dreams to spend his golden years in. A home that can make up for all the love, care, and comfort he missed out on prior to his rescue. Jackson has adjusted very well to the pampered pet life in his foster home. He is well-behaved in the home, crate-trained, and housebroken. He shares his foster home with five other dogs and gets along well with all his new companions.
Jackson was recently neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm tested (negative). He also had bloodwork completed and is a healthy senior pooch. Like many older, larger dogs, he is showing signs of some arthritis and can be a little stiff when he gets up from a long nap. Joint supplements such as glucosamine or fish oil are recommended to help with occasional muscle and joint stiffness. If you have room in your home and heart for this wonderful old man, we guarantee Jackson will repay you with loyal and unconditional love and appreciation!

Jackson is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm tested. His adoption fee to the rescue is $275. Jax is in a foster home and can be seen by appointment only after an application has been received and approved.
