*Adoption fee is $40 cash, which includes 5-way vaccine, Bordetella (kennel cough), flea treatment, deworming regimen, bath and nail trim, microchip and free registration. Heartworm testing and prevention for shelter dogs is sponsored by Paws, Hearts, and Hands of Candler County. Upon Adoption, PHH offers financial assistance with the costs of spay/neuter and initial rabies vaccination. Please bring a collar, leash, I.D., and $40 cash with you. Please give us a call at 912-685-7877 to schedule a visit.All fees must be paid at City Hall except Saturdays and events. Call 912-685-7877 or message us if interested.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees must be paid at Metter City Hall. The fees are $40.00 for dogs and $20.00 for cats. A discount letter is provided for all adopted animals to be altered by participating Veterinarians. All animals will need to be altered within 30 days of adoption. A contract must be signed to complete adoption. Adopter assumes full responsibility of vet care.

Off I-16 exit104. Turn on Hwy 121 North and go to the first red light and turn right on Hwy 46 east. Then turn Right on Hiawatha St at Farm Bureau Ins. Go past EMS And Sheriff's Dept. Shelter sign will be on left. Go behind waste water treatment pond.

Our mission is to find long lasting homes for unwanted pets. The Metter Animal Shelter has been here for over 40 yrs. We have a full time Animal Control Officer, Animal Shelter Caretaker, and volunteers that work in the shelter.
