My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Checkers is seeking a special forever home! Her littermates have all been adopted, and she is the last one still in a foster home in the Columbus area! If you aren’t able to adopt her, please share her story!

Checkers is healthy and house-trained. She’s approximately 10 months old, and she has been fully vetted - tested, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated. This adorable tuxedo girl almost always has a wide-eyed expression, her fur coat is so soft and silky, and her toe beans match her bright, pink nose.

Checkers and her siblings were rescued when found outdoors by a volunteer. Upon intake, it was apparent that they had not experienced any socialization. Despite getting a late start and being a bit spicy initially, Checkers has made a lot of progress, and blossomed in her foster home!

Checkers would initially hide and hiss, but now she climbs in her foster mom’s lap, purrs, rolls around, and gives nuzzles and head butts. Sometimes she follows around her foster mom, and she’ll even wrap herself around her foster mom’s legs and try to take each step with her. However, note that Checkers does require time to warm up to new people, and she will likely be timid until she becomes comfortable in her new home.

Not only does Checkers love keeping her foster parents company, but she also enjoys playing with the other cats/kittens in her foster home. Her other hobbies include playing with strings, looking out windows, and watching YouTube videos featuring birds and other critters. Checkers also loves to eat, as evident by her slightly chonky figure.

Like a typical kitten, Checkers is very active, playful, and curious. She can also be a little quirky. When she’s excited, she occasionally stretches her paws out on the floor. As she stretches, she sometimes forgets that she’s not supposed to sharpen her murder mittens on the carpet. Though she is a sweetheart, when she gets scared or overstimulated, she will also sometimes playfully swat or nip at hands.

Due to her personality, Checkers is best suited for a quiet home without young children. Her ideal person will have ample patience and experience with cats. While she does well with other cats, she has no experience around dogs.

If you're located in Ohio, and you’re interested in meeting/adopting Checkers, please submit an application online via www.forgotten4paws.com/adoption-application.html. Applicants can also request to foster-to-adopt (meaning a cat can be fostered on a trial basis before making a decision to adopt). If you have any questions, send an email to contactusforgotten4paws@yahoo.com.

Go meet their pets

Since we have no physical shelter, our cats and kittens live in our small network of foster homes. We utilize newsletters, social media, and websites such as Adopt-a-Pet to advertise the available cats/kittens. We also sometimes bring foster kittens/cats to the Easton PetSmart on weekends to meet potential adopters. If you are interested in meeting a particular cat, please submit an application online, and then email us to inquire about how to meet the cat.

More about this rescue

Forgotten 4-Paws is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), 100% volunteer-run animal welfare organization with a focus on cats & kittens in the Central Ohio area. Our small group has no physical shelter and utilizes foster homes for rescued cats awaiting adoption. We also maintain several feral communities. We have three goals: 1) reduce suffering by promoting the sterilization of companion and homeless animals, 2) promote better care and understanding of animals through education, and 3) aid in the adoption of homeless animals.
