My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adventures full of goosebumps!

With me, all the time! I am R.L. Stine, and I may not be able to write books with my pawsies, but I can write adventures with you! I am a 1 year old, male neutered Shepherd mix and I am about 44 lbs. I came from Ensenada, Mexico via Los Adoptables as a part of the Horror Dog Crew. My personal piece of horror was that I ended up with Leptosporosis but I am a survivor! I do need prescription food to support kidneys right now, and will need lab work every 3-6 to monitor kidneys and long term treatment plan. (Hill's prescription diet k/d kidney care dry dog food kidney issues, ~$50.00 bag of dry food and Hill's Prescription Diet k/d Kidney Care wet food ~$50.00 for case of food, depending on market value and where purchased).

Enough about the tricks, it's time for treats! I am a very sweet guy and snuggles are my jam. I can be shy with new folks around me and it takes me about a week to warm up in a new space, but boy oh boy, once I do, good luck not falling hard for me! Even with my shyness, I am very well-behaved in public and easy-going. I get along well with all dogs and show zero reactivity. With kitties I do show a lot of interest but I am not aggressive. I also do well with kiddos and live with pre-teens currently. I am quite smart and have picked many cues right away! I am bathroom, leash and crate trained. Positive reinforcement is great for my training, tricks and treats do go hand in hand.

Nothing scary with me, and I would be an easy dog for a family or person with time to introduce me to new things, people or pets or places. I need someone patient who will also work with me consistently, specially with stranger guests coming home. Just be gentle with me and I will be golden. I would fit into a moderately active to active family and I am great with kids, dogs, and cats! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
