My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This lovely and unique guy is looking for an experienced person to welcome him into his new forever home.

Buddy Guy enjoys attention and affection, often expressing this through rubbing, purring, and actively soliciting attention. He loves to play with string and springy wand toys, will run after you up and down the stairs to play and chase toys, loves to scrabble through a tunnel, and climbs up to the top of the tall cat tree to nap. He also has amazing beside manners. Enjoying sleeping in the same room as you in his own bed and does not wake you up in the morning. He likes being picked up and carried around a bit as he is not much of a jumper. Loves to sit in a window that's open enough for him to smell the sights.

We have recently learned from the foster that he is doing very well with harness training and has been practicing walking around the house with his harness and leash on. He is now enjoying going outside onto an cat proof patio so he can enjoy the outdoors safely, see photos!

He is on medication for anxiety based behavioral issues and has improved greatly. He loves getting his medications daily in Churu. Any future medication adjustments should be discussed with the veterinarian to ensure the best fit for his well-being.

Notably, Buddy Guy has shown positive progress in his behavior. He hasn't scratched in some time, and he is gradually becoming more comfortable sitting next to or on his human companions, displaying a sweet and affectionate side. He is learning to trust again. This little guy loves smelling people's breath

It's important to note that he may display certain cues, such as light scratching or biting when intentionally communicating he has had enough. Understanding and respecting these cues will contribute to positive interactions.

While Buddy Guy has formed a strong connection with his foster, he would likely adapt and form connections with other individuals over time. Patience, consistency, and a loving environment will be key factors in his continued growth.

In summary, Buddy Guy is a lovable and charming cat seeking a patient and understanding adopter who appreciates his unique personality. With the right environment and care, he has the potential to blossom into an even more affectionate and content companion. If you are looking for a feline friend with character and charm, consider welcoming Buddy Guy into your heart and home.

Please submit an application online as he is currently in foster. We will contact all appropriate applicants.

More about this shelter

Our Mission:

The BC SPCA is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for domestic, farm and wild animals in British Columbia. Through its 36 branches located around BC and its provincial office in Vancouver, the BC SPCA provides a wide range of services for more than 53,000 homeless, abused, and abandoned animals around the province. The BC SPCA was created under the auspices of the provincial Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, and is the only animal welfare organization in BC which has the authority to enforce laws relating to animal cruelty and to prepare cases for Crown Counsel for the prosecution of individuals who inflict suffering on animals.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst

2. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease

3. Freedom from distress

4. Freedom from discomfort

5. Freedom to express behaviours that promote well-being.
