My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

URGENT need for new foster home or adopter. Meet active & affectionate senior boy BERT! Bert is an 8 year old Labrador Border Collie mix who was rescued and transported as a puppy from Georgia. Unfortunately, his adopter was a senior guy, now in his 80’s and was having serious medical issues. After bringing Bert, he has been in foster care in Tacoma. Turns out, he is not liked by one of the resident dogs in his foster home, thus the urgency to find a new place for him. Bert is truly a delightful dog! He is fun and mellow and loves people and other dogs. Bert weighs about 58lbs and has lost a few pounds after getting regular exercise and diet dog food. His foster parents just loves him. Bert loves to play and is so very cuddly. Even though he is getting to be a senior, he is active and does need and want a good daily walk. He loves car rides, fetching his ball or toys and his several mile daily walks. Bert likes hanging out with his doggie siblings, but agrees that he would be fine as an only dog. Bert has been crate-trained, but is great in the house without the crate. He can be left in the house for long periods of time and sleeps through the night on his pet bed with the family. He is totally house-trained and knows his basic commands too. He is even learning a few tricks! Bert walks very well on a leash and he has more energy than the average 8-year-old lab! Bert considers himself a lap dog (!) but understands if you don’t want him on the furniture or your lap! He loves attention and is affectionate and smart. Bert’s is looking for an ‘active’ family where he can be loved, given a good daily walk and be a real member of the family. Bert loves older kids, but we’d suggest no toddlers or babies as he’s not been around them. Same is true of cats, though we don’t know that for sure as he’s not been around cats that we know of. Bert loves the outdoors and hanging out in his foster’s large yard. He isn’t bothered by the rain or inclement weather and is up for any adventure. Bert would be a good candidate for doggie day care or the dog park but will be more interested in fetching his ball and getting pets from people rather than tussling with the other pups. Bert is vaccinated, micro-chipped and neutered.
