My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

DOUG ~3 years old. Good with dogs and kids over 16. Not good with cats. Fenced yard required.

Meet Doug, a three year old Dutch shepherd with an incredible personality. He has typical Dutch shepherd energy and requires exercise and walks each day. He is very well trained and enjoys working. But don't let his playful nature fool you, because he also knows how to relax and enjoy quality time with his humans. This handsome boy has a special talent for falling asleep on the kitchen floor or snuggling up on the couch next to you while giving gentle rubs.
Doug loves people, dogs, and kids. Because of his exuberant and playful nature, he would do best with kids over 16 years of age.  A family or owner who is experienced  with Dutch or German Shepherd dogs is mandatory.  Doug could be happy as an only dog, but would also love a companion dog to play with. It is an absolute MUST  that his home has a secure fenced in yard. Being a herding breed, Doug does have a high prey drive, so he would do best in a home without cats. His love for toys is unmatched, especially his beloved ‘Egg’ that he carries around everywhere. In typical Dutch fashion, he will happily engage in playtime with you for hours on end. Doug does require daily exercise to work off his high energy. He enjoy walks and exploring new places and also enjoys riding in the car.

If you're searching for a loyal and affectionate companion, Doug may be the dog for you. He is eagerly waiting for someone who can provide him with the love and care he deserves.  Again, Doug is a Dutch shepherd and will require an experienced handler. Doug is not a good first time pet.  Not for apartment living or homes without a backyard.

Doug is neutered, up to date on vaccines, on monthly heartworm preventative, highly obedience trained and crate trained.

More about this rescue

Thank you for considering adopting a GSRA dog. We love that you are exploring rescuing a GSD. We firmly believe that the adoption of a dog is not one to be taken lightly. Because of this belief, our adoption process is what some would described as lengthy and can be emotional. If you are looking to take a dog home "tomorrow", unfortunately our organization is not for you.
