My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lunar recently spent some time with a week-long foster and here's what her foster mom had to say!

"She is a great dog. She seems to adjust and settle into new situations quickly. My household is very calm, so it was a good time for her to relax. My office setting has more people moving about/action. She did well in both situations, but may prefer the quiet, at least at this moment until she adjusts.

- Great in car, she has been commuting with me to Winston Salem and does great.
- Crate trained - May bark for 5-10 minutes after first being put in the crate (if you are leaving) but settles. No barking in crate if you stay with her (i.e., putting her in the crate at night).
- House trained - no accidents.
- Good on leash, some pulling when passing a squirrel/bird/dog, but small corrections are enough to redirect. She does best in the slip leash. Most of the time no pulling at all.
- Quiet - does not bark very often.
- Proper house manners - doesn't mess with items she should not.
- Knows sit, leave it, and off. Almost has down.
- Does well with the cat - have spent time together while leashed. She seems to like to greet the cat then move on. No signs of aggression.
- Does well passing dogs on the street. She is interested but can be redirected to keep moving. Met one calm golden retriever and did well. Most likely prefers laid back, calmer, not intense dogs.
- Would be happy as an only dog.
- Enjoys treats and takes them nicely, not a fan of French fries but loves meat flavored treats.
- Great low/medium energy where she loves a walk but settles quickly.
- Loves snuggles, is a leaner for pets.
- Has loved every person she has met.
- Did well in our downtown office setting with multiple people coming up to say hello.
- Starting to occasionally play with a soft squeaky toy.
- Did great with her bath, stood quietly like a champ."

As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines.

To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
