My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi My name is Rayna, or Raya, or RAY (if I am being naughty, which is like, hardly ever, I swear, because I am mostly perfect). I like Raya the best because its like that one movie... Raya the Last Dragon. It's a pretty funny movie and I'm a pretty funny girl!

My foster mom has a hard time describing my perfectness because I am all the things: calm, energetic, loving, cuddly, independent, clingy, gentle, confident... I can hit all those adjectives all in one day and I make it my goal to do so! Kennel trained, potty trained, can sit on command (with a treat-o for tax of course) I am a highly trainable dog. My foster mom thinks I would make someone an excellent first time rescue dog. Fairly quiet, I wouldn't say no to apartment living if I am taken out routinely.

Other dogs are friends, not foes and I love to play with them (the dogs in my foster home are duds and barely play). Cats on the other hand.... Oof, they smell really good and I'd really like to get to the ones in my foster home. To do what? Unsure... find out what makes them squeak? Maybe. Find out if they are tasty? Possibly. Do nothing? Eh who knows. That being said I listen when my foster mom calls me away from them okish, so she's not super worried.

Kids, would be a new experience for me but I can't imagine I wouldn't love them a ton, however my one of my naughty traits is jumping on all the humans. I am working on it, but I don't want to make anyone cry by knocking them over so I think kids 6 and over would be best.

I'm pretty athletic and love the outdoors, I would love someone who wants to hike. The North Shore looks fun ya? Not a hiker? That's ok, my foster mom says I have a ton of potential to be any type of family dog you want me to be. I'd love to be trained to be a Canine Good Citizen or a Therapy dog. I am yours to train as you will.

Rayna's adoption fee is $400 plus MN tax which covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip and any additional medical care she may have needed while in the rescue's care.
We are a foster based rescue, we do not house dogs at a facility. Age and breed are NLR's best guess as we often don't know who or what mom and dad are. If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website www.northernlakesrescue.org

Additional adoption info

Northern Lakes Rescue wants to make adopting your next pet the best experience you have in adopting a pet. When you see a animal you are interested in we encourage you either email us at info@northernlakesrescue.org with what dog you are interested in.

We require all of our volunteers to respond with 48 hours to all email inquiries regarding adoptions.

All adoptions will require an application, home visit, personal and vet references and a meet and greet. Our adoption fees range from $300-400 depending on the dog.
All dogs over 6 months of age will be spay/neutered, vaccinated to age and micro-chipped. Puppies being adopted will require a spay/neuter and vaccine contract.

Finalizing an adoption will include a contract that you will sign and payment of your adoption fee.

Go meet their pets

Northern Lakes Rescue is foster based so all dogs are being fostered by amazing volunteers, because of this we require all meet and greets to be scheduled after an application is submitted.

Our focus after you apply is to get you scheduled to meet the dog within 3 to 7 days.
