My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maya is a 3-year-old husky with a big heart despite her small stature. She may be short for her age, but she makes up for it with her boundless energy and love for playing and cuddling. Maya's playful demeanor and sweet nature endear her to all who meet her, making her a beloved dog to all the staff members. Maya is a charming and affectionate pup who adores attention from anyone she meets. Her striking blue eyes sparkle with intelligence and warmth, captivating all who gaze into them. With her adorable perky ears that always seem to be listening, Maya has a way of stealing hearts wherever she goes. Always ready for a cuddle or a belly rub, Maya is a loyal companion and a true delight to be around!

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Harford County, Inc., located in Fallston, Maryland, is a non-profit, open-admission animal support organization dedicated to providing shelter and care to the homeless, abandoned and abused animals of Harford County. We provide a safe and healthy temporary shelter and seek loving, permanent homes to ensure the long-term welfare of the animals we serve. Through education and advocacy, we promote the humane treatment of companion animals and work toward reducing, and ultimately eliminating, pet overpopulation in the county through low-cost spay and neuter programs.

We have welcomed more than 300,000 animals since 1946 and provide service to the community in conjunction with animal control to safeguard public health and safety. We strive to promote the special bond between humans and their companion pets in securing forever homes for our animals.

The Humane Society of Harford County serves nearly 4,000 animals each year. The animals include dogs, cats, ponies, birds, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, bearded dragons, lizards, snakes, spiders, iguanas, turtles, ducks, turkeys, chickens, goats and pigs, to name a few. The majority of the animals we receive are cats (and kittens) and dogs (and puppies).
